Congrats to Stu and driver Adam who came 21st out of 46 competitors for their first official race in the car that they built together.
Karen Sinclair holds stunning 6 week old foster puppy Brooke, ANZ staff member holds equally stunning litter sister Fluff, while Branch Manager Lorraine Whitehouse presents Judy from DCH with a cheque for $415.00 collected from a recent fundraiser held by the bank staff, all overseen by 3 rescued and rehomed Collies Deni, Angus and Brockie.
A huge thankyou from everyone at DCH to all the wonderful enthusiastic staff and their customers at the ANZ Bank, 287 Old Northern Road, Castle Hill, who supported this fundraiser to help DCH continue to rescue unwanted abandoned animals and find homes for them.

What
Is Rescue?
Recently
there have been a number of advertisments on the net and in newspapers
that have come to our attention that claim to be selling "rescue"
dogs but appear, in reality, to be from unethical people trying
to make money.
So
what is the difference between legitimate rescue?
- Those
serious about ending the ongoing problem of dogs in pounds will
ensure that any animal they re-home is desexed. This ensures that
no future generations of dogs have to share the sad fate of so
many we see everyday in neglect and in pounds.
- Legitimate
rescuers will only charge for expenses incurred,
these generally include any pound release fees and vet fees (for
desexing, microchip, vaccination etc). If the dog being advertised
isn't desexed then there is no reason for a high price
tag. In general, rescuers lose money on each dog they re-home,
and while prices will vary from dog to dog and between rescue
groups in general you can expect to pay from $180 to $300.
- Some
ads for pure bred dogs claim they would be good as "breeders".
Even if the dog is pure bred, without an associated pedigree,
then it is unethical and ill advised to attempt to breed. A serious
and reputable breeder would source their breeding stock from other
reputable breeders and not from ads of this nature. To become
a breeder is hard work and not to be entered into lightly, there
is also little to no money in dog breeding and those that do it
responsibly do so for the love of their breed in an attempt to
improve that breed and remove any genetic faults.
- Expect
to be questioned extensively by the rescue group you go through
regarding your suitability to own the dog your interested in.
(Just as you will have plenty of questions for them.) This is
a sign that the rescuers have the best interests of the dog at
heart and are more concerned with the well being of the dog than
in making a quick sale.
- Any
genuine rescuer will always take back a dog that you have adopted
for whatever reason. They will also be happy to provide advice
on raising your dog at anytime, even months or years down the
track.
