Tommy
Male Ginger DSH - 5yrs

Update 9/1/2010: Sadly Tommy's run of medical bad luck is continuing and has taken a turn for the worse. Tommy was diagnosed with untreatable cancer of the mouth after 2 large tumours were found on his gums. The tumours are growing and his condition is being monitored to ensure he isn't in too much pain or discomfort. For now he is resting at his carers home where he feels very much loved and safe and they will continue to care for him until his condition worsens.
Tommy's tests and initial hospitalisation have come to $585. If you can assist with sponsorship for some of these costs please contact us or click on the donate button below

Porter
Male Border Collie x Kelpie - 2 years

Unfortunately during his stay at the pound Porter was bitten on the tail by another dog. As a result he lost the tip of his tail however further investigation by the vets have determined that his tail has been broken further down and there is nerve damage and exposed bone. Sadly this means half of Porter's tail will need to be amputated. Luckily he should make a full recovery and this won't cause him any ongoing problems.
If you can help sponsor some of the additional vet costs for Porter's surgery, which have come to $350, please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below.

Thankyou to Lesley, Denise and Celia for your generous donations towards Porters surgery. His vet fees have now been fully covered.

Renbury Kittens
Litter of 4 tabby kittens - 4 weeks

Kitten season has well and truly arrived for 2009 and this litter of 4 kittens was rescued from the pound where they were dumped without a mother. At this young age, without the protection of their mum's milk they are highly susceptible to illness. Sadly this litter came down with cat flu and what appears to be be a gastro bug as well. Given their young age, despite getting vet treatment early and being monitored at the vets over a period of 3 days 2 of these little babies didn't make it. We are pleased to say the bigger two of the litter seem to have pulled through and are back home with their carer doing well.
If you can help sponsor some of the additional vet costs incurred in looking after these kittens please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below. These extra vet fees have come to $200

Dusty's vet bills have come to $ 390 and we are seeking sponsorship to help us cover these additional costs.

Pebbles
Female DSH blue and white - 5 months

While undergoing her routine desexing operation it was discovered that Pebbles had two seperate and unusual hernia's. With one her bladder was strangely connected hernia in a way that had to be surgically seperated. IT is believed that as a baby kitten she probably suffered some kind of trauma that had caused this disfiguration. The vets feel with the extent of the damage that she was lucky not to have suffered from organ damage at the time. Pebbles is recovering well from her opertaion and should have no further problems down the track.
If you can help sponsor some of Pebbles additional vet costs please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below. Pebbles extra vet fees have come to $281

Puppies
5 mastiff x pups

This mum and bubs were rescued from a country pound and sadly the babies have now all come down with Parvo. This is often a fatal disease in young pups and all 5 are now fighting for their lives at our vet clinic on drips.
Update 21/10/08: Sadly the smallest little puppy didn't make it. The other 4 are still fighting but 3 of them are doing a bit better today so we are hopeful they will pull through
Update 23/10/08: 3 of the puppies are now well enough to go home, unfortunately puppy number 4 is still critical at the vets.
Update 25/10/08: All 4 puppies are now at home with their foster carer and although they still have a tough few days ahead, they are expected to make a full recovery
Update 27/10/08: Sadly the 4th little girl took a turn for the worse today and didn't make it. The remaining 3 are doing well.
Update 15/11/08: All the other 3 puppies are doing well and will go to their new homes at the end of November. We are still seeking sponsorship to cover their large vet bill. If you can help please contact us

If you can help sponsor these pups, whose vet bill so far has come to $3000, then please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below

Frank
Male Black and White DSH - 14 weeks

Poor Frank came into care as a baby kitten suffering trauma to his tail, in the vets opinion most likely from being swung around by his tail. Part of his tail suffered so much damage it died and dropped off. Due this injury his tail has now been amputated and we are seeking sponsorship to help cover his vet bills. Frank has fully recovered and will thankfully go on to lead a normal, happy life. If you can help sponsor some of these vet bills then please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click here:

Ongoing Sponsorship & General Donations

DCH Animal Adoptions relies solely on our adoption fees and the generous support of the community to continue our rescue work. Many times we are faced with large veterinary bills due to the illness and injury that comes along with looking after pound rescues.
From time to time we will highlight special needs animals on this page and ask the public to help us with our efforts to rehabilitate or provide vet work to a particular animal, however, we also need ongoing help. Your support, however large or small is greatly appreciated
