Renbury Kittens Litter of 4 tabby kittens - 4 weeks
|
| | |
Kitten season has well and truly arrived for 2009 and this litter of 4 kittens was rescued from the pound where they were dumped without a mother. At this young age, without the protection of their mum's milk they are highly susceptible to illness. Sadly this litter came down with cat flu and what appears to be be a gastro bug as well. Given their young age, despite getting vet treatment early and being monitored at the vets over a period of 3 days 2 of these little babies didn't make it. We are pleased to say the bigger two of the litter seem to have pulled through and are back home with their carer doing well.
If you can help sponsor some of the additional vet costs incurred in looking after these kittens please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below. These extra vet fees have come to $200

Dusty Female Jack Russell - 5 years
|
| | |
Dusty is a lovely little girl who has had a rough life. She was found
roaming the streets scared and hungry. When she was finally brought
into care she was in a very poor state having mammary lumps, skin
irritations, ear infection and on top of all that she was pregnant.
Since being in care she has had the mammary lumps removed ( they
turned out to be nothing serious) her ear and skin infections are all
healed. Dusty's vet bills have come to $ 390 and we are seeking
sponsorship to help us cover these additional costs.
If you can help sponsor some of Dusty's additional vet costs please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below. Dusty's extra vet fees have come to $390

Pebbles Female DSH blue and white - 5 months
|
| | |
While undergoing her routine desexing operation it was discovered that Pebbles had two seperate and unusual hernia's. With one her bladder was strangely connected hernia in a way that had to be surgically seperated. IT is believed that as a baby kitten she probably suffered some kind of trauma that had caused this disfiguration. The vets feel with the extent of the damage that she was lucky not to have suffered from organ damage at the time. Pebbles is recovering well from her opertaion and should have no further problems down the track.
If you can help sponsor some of Pebbles additional vet costs please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below. Pebbles extra vet fees have come to $281

Tamm Male Tri Coloured Collie Rough - 8 years
|
| | |
Tamm came into care underweight and with a history of not being a good eater at all, certainly did not chew bones. A few days in care and Tamm 's face on one side blow up like a balloon and thinking maybe a bee sting he went straight to the vets where it was revealed that he had a terribly infected tooth and several major ulcers on the inside of his mouth. This long term infection started where the thumb is on the picture and had travelled all the way under the skin and was coming out where the 3 sores are near his nose. Tamm had to have emergency surgery to remove the pockets of ulcerated infection and also his back tooth. He is recovering well, definately got an appetite now and is making up for lost time in that regard, eats anything now, a massive bowl full very night including chicken necks.
If you can help sponsor some of Tamms additional vet costs please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below
Thanks to Paul for his generous donations towards Tamms vet fees. These have now been fully covered.

Narla Female DSH Torti - 2 years
|
| | |
Narla was rescued from Renbury Farm Animal Shelter heavily pregnant. She gave birth to 6 little kittens shortly after and was being a good mother until last week when she seizured and was rushed to the vets. Narla had pyometra and the vets didn't hold out much hope of her surviving the night. Thankfuly she did pull through and later the next day when the vets felt she was up to it, they desexed her. Narla has made a remarkable recovery and we are so thankful that she is now back with her kittens (albeit seperated for most of the day until her stiches are out). Narla's medical care has come to $250 and we are seeking sponsorship to help us cover these additional costs.
If you can help please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below

Barney Male Corgi x Cattle Dog - 7 years
|
| | |

Barney was a street dog for many years. Without a warm home to call his own or someone to take him to the vet when he was ill, he was in a fairly poor state when he came into care. We took him straight to the vets and he was diagnosed with severe arthritis in his left stifle and thoracic spinal pain. Barney was put on medication (rimadyl) anti inflammatory to see how he would respond.
Within a week of being on medication he started improving and acting like a two year old dog running and wrestling with his canine friends. At this stage he was then taken back to the vets for xrays, dessexing and a hernia repair. Barney is doing so well that we have reduced his medication dose and have since been able to take him completely off the medication and he has not looked back. He will probably need medication in the future but is currently comfortable without it.
Barney's medications and vet bills have come to $488 and we are seeking sponsorship to help us cover these additional costs.
If you can help please call Megan on 9627 2767 or email dchanimaladoptions@iprimus.com.au or click below

This mum and bubs were rescued from a country pound and sadly the babies have now all come down with Parvo. The other 4 are still fighting but 3 of them are doing a bit better today so we are hopeful they will pull through Update 23/10/08: 3 of the puppies are now well enough to go home, unfortunately puppy number 4 is still critical at the vets.

Ongoing Sponsorship & General Donations
| | |
DCH Animal Adoptions relies solely on our adoption fees and the generous support of the community to continue our rescue work. Many times we are faced with large veterinary bills due to the illness and injury that comes along with looking after pound rescues. From time to time we will highlight special needs animals on this page and ask the public to help us with our efforts to rehabilitate or provide vet work to a particular animal, however, we also need ongoing help. Your support, however large or small is greatly appreciated
