The Burleigh Rock Drill Company.

First Pneumatic Rock Drill Invented 1866.
&
Patented Burleigh Air - Compressor - 1868

This engraving dates back to 1912 and is a Fine example from the Fitchburg Collection
held by The Fitchburg Historical Society.

Below, is an example of the Charles Burleigh Tunnel Drill.
Much the same sort of frame was used on Tunnel's such as the Hoosac Tunnel
except on a much larger scale with as many as eight drills being mounted on a
single frame which in some cases would be sitting on rails, so as to maneuver the
whole frame back and forth when blasting and to make room for removal of rock debris.

~ This particular photo dates back to around the 1928 period ~
