An Excellent site featuring yard photos going back to the 1930's.
This site gives a look via cards at a " part only " history of the thousands of Locomotives
built throughout the United States over a 110 year period, with a typical working lifetime
being between 20 to 50 years and although it is not documented it proves to be a marvelous
look back in time. ~ Many Thanks to Robert Kline for a look at his collection ~
The Locomotive photo below features the 3987, a 4-6-6-4 " Chalenger " taken at Creston,
Wyoming. It gives a feeling of what it was like to operate those big engines in the American
West, the crew having an abundance of natural heating during the bitter cold of Winter.
Listing nearly every independent builder throughout North America - An Excellent site.
