certain events
|
A month and a bit can go past with a lot of things coming and going. Events can be.....well, eventful and anything else can be important at the time. Though after a week you can be forgiven for forgetting what the fuss was all about to begin with. For the second time in 4 years I have attended a memorial for a murder. It's strange how you can be swept up by "associations" without even trying to be involved. Not is it only a grisly business but knowing someone for years and watching their world fall apart publicly can be the most heartbreaking thing. __________________________________________ For about the fourth time, I went along with my brother in law to attend the boozy "Piss and Wind" luncheon. This time held at Lynch's. It was about 3 years before, I was there for a more intimate reason Though this time it was more.... "I say Sharpie, enlighten us with your comments on the rather crisp pre-lunch Champers'" I know fuck all about wine. I think I can tell a Shiraz from a Cab Sav, and that from a Merlot or Pinot Noir, but as far as regions go I'm absolutely hopeless, when it comes to vintage I rarely get it right, though I can get close to the mark by a couple of years. I'm not even sure why I go to these lunches. Maybe it's the old boy camaraderie, there is something to be said for that type of mateship, even though your as pissed as a fart at the time. __________________________________________ Some updates to this site. The BIO section has a newer but unfortunately older face, I really was kidding myself with the old picture, I just don't look as good as that any more. An appropriate INDEX more suiting the general theme of all things dark and uncertain. Lastly the INTRO and ARCHIVE also have a new look. I have added my Visual Moments Photography site as part of the GALLERY as a temporary measure, until the new stuff is ready to go. __________________________________________ Nerd Shite Finally have a new computer at long last. The old Pentium 1/200mmx running NT4 had served me well since 1996, though with it's 64mg of ram and 2.4 gig h/drive, it could barely cope with the most basic of functions. The new job looks as if it has swallowed the whole box. With the yellowing 3.5 inch floppy drive from the original 486 box, plus the fairly new Sony burner and CD ram drive. The new Desktop style box is a beast. The 40 gig !!! hard drive purrs effortlessly along with 256 meg of ram, pushed by 1:7 ghz of Pentium 4 processing. The platform is Win 98 SE, though I have a copy of XP pro, or an ME upgrade if I want. I'm happy enough with the way it's going, though I have Norton Utilities 2002 keeping the whole old school windows stable. I don't want to play around with computers anymore, just the necessary stuff of e-mail and web design. Gordon my switched on pal from the Pumpkin believes computers are time thieves. It's true __________________________________________ This entry has been such a long time coming, all the important things I wanted to say are gone, my note taking has taken second fiddle to a busy mind filled with the 9 - 5 slog. As Winter now settles in, I can hibernate (some more) and get down to some serious contemplation. That's if I don't get hemorrhoids first !
