When you come home of an evening after a hard day's yakka, the last thing you want to see is huge black creatures with a five foot wingspan, shrieking and cackling like a hyena circling the place where you live. Mega Bats. Flying Foxes, monster fucking fruit bats, threatening to swoop down and rip out your heart with their diseased claws, then fly off, flapping their black membranous wings wildly, to the Royal Botanical Gardens, with their bloody and beating prize. It's been a month and a half now, since I first started hearing them outside the lounge window. Bashing themselves against the trees and tree ferns, feasting on the abundant Moreton Bay Figs overhanging our property. I dare not go out the front in case they swoop on me, (that's where most of them are !) I started to look for them in the day, hanging in the trees, but soon discovered they camp at the Royal Botanical Gardens. A small group of them then fly to my place at dusk, scaring the bejeezus out of me. Though, I am getting used to them. The hotter the night, the madder and insane sounding they become. I try to view them within the safety of my lounge window (yes a scaredy cat and proud!) but only get a fleeting shadow of wings. That is as close to them as I want to get. I imagine they will be back next summer with the next batch of plump fruit puffing from the branches. I am getting a spot light then! __________________________________________________________________
Work and home, home and work. Maude had a bad back, but is on the mend. Poor lass couldn't move her neck very well. I can't move mine at all! What a fine pair of stiffies we looked walking into work the other day. Anyone would think we had just completed a 7 day workshop of the Alexander Technique, which didn't go too well. I am starting a Multimedia Course in January. I am badly in need of Graphic skills. The ideas are there but the skill is lacking. I couldn't even get this entry the way I wanted it to look. I expect great improvements to this site once I have got it all together. Talking about getting it all together. I landed a great new seating position within the concentration camp at work. Plus one thorn is being plucked out. The relief will be huge. Glad to see the
back of it.
