Shaka was our rescue male. I was alerted by a work colleague that he had been surrendered to the RSPCA by a couple who had broken up. So along we went to see him and there he was, a gorgeous but oversize boy, scared and cowering in the corner. Although we were looking for a show quality male, there was no way we could leave him there, and this was his second last day.
Shaka was 3 years old when he joined our family, made up at the time of Raisin (2yo) and Marsala (1yo). Marsala loved him straight away and would romp and play, but Raisin took about a week before deciding that he was ok. For a 3yo adult male, you would never have known that we didn't raise him. He fit in well with our family and seemed grateful that we had come to his rescue.
Shaka is a gentle giant. He is above average size but he really is a big softy. Despite being half his size, Raisin has maintained top dog status, and Shaka has never contested it. Shaka now lives with his dad, Simon Livesley, who has kindly given me permission to include him on this website.
