An Introduction
I began this website on a whim really. It all started when I realized I was spending most of my free time surfing diaries and making mental notes about what I did and didn't like about them. Having kept my own personal diary for most of my adult life and one online for a few years I have interest in the online diary concept as well as the idea that it can be reviewed on asthetics as well as content.
I came across a few of the pioneer review sites and felt that some of the criteria was outrageous, for example, I never liked the idea of getting points just for having certain elements like a guestbook. I also began to notice that these review sites, although at the time not so numerous, were also reviewing without being very controversial. No one was saying how terrible sites were, they were just simply patting the diarist on the back and giving egos a boost. I wanted to give more constructive, although at times biting criticism. In fact, I was spurred on by the trend of bad diaries getting good reviews.
And so here I am. I've come a long way since the beginning. Most of my reviews as far back as October of 2000 are not that long or that great if I do say so myself. I think I have learned a lot and grown as a critic since then.
The fact that this website receives a lot of publicity be it bad or good is really an added bonus to my hobby. I enjoy hearing of or seeing a diarist make changes based on my criticism. I've received many emails thanking me as well as numerous hate mail and bashing remarks. All things considered, I have to say that this has been and continues to be quite a journey of which I enjoy immensely. I am honored to continue reviewing your diaries and providing others like myself a portal in which to find good diaries to read.
