Instrument details
This
instrument was purchased direct from the factory in November 1975. It has been
owned by the one owner since that time who has looked
after the instrument and the case with great care. The original invoice comes
with the instrument.
Its serial
no. is 8252. It has a high D key, LH thumb crook key lock, high E key, E-F
connection mechanism, low C plate, E flat key on wing joint and has both sides
of the boot joint lined with hard rubber. It comes with 4 crooks (CC1, CC2,
CD1, CD2), two reed cases and a heavy duty bassoon
stand.

It plays well with good tone &
projection. Both the instrument and the case are in very good condition. One wear mark on the butt joint. A number of non standard extras
add value to the package.

Details
This instrument was purchased by the Sydney Symphony
Orchestra in the late 60's where it resided. In 1991 the ABC
auctioned off this bassoon to the person from whom the current
owner purchased the instrument. Whilst in Sydney it has been serviced by John Cran. When residing in Qld it has
been recently overhauled by Peter Musson.
it has a bright rich sound, has a high D key, smooth
rollers. Bore and joints in excellent condition. A water value has been added
to the U tube.
It comes in a compact case 68cm(L) x30cm (W) x10cm (D)
with one crook. The crook lock key is missing

comment:-
This bassoon plays very nicely and
has a good sound. It has been completely overhauled including re-padding and
regulation of key heights and spring pressures. The only negative aspect is
noticeable cracking and unevenness in the surface lacquer in some areas.
