(Click here for detailed map location) The mud flats between Australian Submarine Corperation and Pelican Point at low tide(check Outer Harbour tide times)must be at least 0.6 metres of water or less provide an excellent source of live bait in the form of tube worms. All you need is a strong shovel and a strong back, you must be very quick to catch the worms before the slip out the bottem of the tube. There are two main species of fish you are likely to catch here,Black Bream and Mullet along with the occassional Mulloway if your lucky. |
(Click here for detailed map location) Most fishing people in Adelaide would have heard about the (Hot Water). It is the area behind the power station where the turbine cooling water is pumped out.The water in this area is quite warm and fast running.Fishing is done of the rocks adjacent to the power station.Take plenty of tackle as this area is known for snags. The main species found here are Black Bream and Silver Whiting although tides are not really a consideration here the most productive times are dusk and dawn. |

Board Walk |
West Lakes |
|
(Click here for detailed map location) Fishing from the Board walk is best done at around high tide because there is not much water during low tides.I also find nights more productive but remember the mosquito repellant as the mangroves attract these things in the thousands. The main species of fish that are caught here are Bream,Mullet and Yellow Fin whiting, but beware because it is a breading ground there are sometimes a lot of undersized fish caught,be sure to return them to the water unharmed as as possible. |
(Click here for detailed map location) West Lakes is a man made lake built on old swamp land.Seawater is pumped in from the Southern end and flushed out into the Port River at the Northern end.It is at these too locations where most of the fishing is done. How ever i have heard of large Mullet being caught behind the Lakes Hotel across fom the shopping centre.Tide is not a consideration here and the best time to fish the inlet is when the gates are open and fresh water is being pumped into the lake system, the main catch here is Bream. |

Outer Harbour |
North Haven |
|
(Click here for detailed map location) This is a long man made structure with the main shipping channel one side and North Haven beach the other. It is made up of very large rocks and it is hard work jumping from rock to rock,so good footwear is essential. The fish caught here vary depending on time of year, tides, etc.Species include Salmon Trout,Snook,Shark and Skate futher out towards the end or on the beach side Garfish and Tommy Ruff. |
(Click here for detailed map location) This is a man made stucture made up of large rocks similar to the Outer Harbour Breakwater but not as long.It has the open beach one side and the North Haven boat ramp and marina the other.Good shoes must be worn if you are going to walk this breakwater.Best times to fish are morning on high tide, expect to catch anything from Flat Head and snook from the end and also smaller species such as Garfish and Mullet.
