The IGA in Brighton Street and the service station on Bundeena Drive can supply everything for a barbeque lunch, while the folk at the Fringe Cafe or the Passionfruit Cafe will organise a range of tasty takeaway food. Bundeena Kayaks hire kayaks from Bonnie Vale during the warm weather months five days a week. They also run Paddlefit classes on Fridays at 9.30am and Sundays at 8am. Walk down memory lane
The Bundeena-Maianbar Heritage Walk is a self-guided walking track with signs highlighting many fascinating points about the area’s past and its unique plants and wildlife. The first stage starts at Bundeena wharf, at the steps to the right of the waiting shed. One of the area’s most beautiful short walks is along the track that winds up from Bundeena to Maianbar. The track starts next to the campground in the Bonnie Vale recreation area and climbs up through the forest before coming out in Maianbar. Along the way, you can enjoy spectacular views and when you get there, enjoy a cool drink at the Maianbar Store.Follow your art
Bundeena-Maianbar is famous as an artists’ haven. Don’t miss Bundeena Picture Gallery (ph 9527 1318), run by artists Doris Kaminski and Robert Wilson at the top of Brighton St. Meanwhile, every weekend Something at Mary’s Pottery Studio & Workshops at 8 Mary Street has a great range of jewellery, ceramics, quilts and handbags made by local artists (ph 9523 3758).Ellie Smith’s Neil Street Gallery has regular exhibitions by local talent (ph 9527 9795).
