What is Roller Hockey? Roller Hockey is an exciting and skilful game for both players and spectators. Hockey on roller skates is being played all over the world - a game for all ages and levels of ability, from the social player to the more serious player - from club level to World Championship level. Players Equipment Equipment consists of roller skates (quads or in-line). Kneepads, shin pads, elbow pads, and helmets which are optional. Roller Hockey stick, which is similar to a field hockey stick, and a ball. The game is played in two halves being 2 x 20 minutes or 2 x 25 minutes for senior players. Times may vary depending on divisions played. All ages are catered for from pee-wees to masters. Roller Hockey is a game of tactics that improves fitness, strength and agility - a team sports where each player can contribute their own personal skill. Venues Roller Hockey is a sport that can be played indoors or outdoors on a smooth surface of either cement or timber. Floor area is approximately 20m x 40m. Roller skating rinks and sporting venues are highly recommended as suitable venues for the sport of Roller Hockey.
