OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS & HELPFULL HINTS
TO BE READ CAREFULLY BY OWNERS AND OPERATORS PRIOR TO USE.
ATTACHING BALE HANDLER TO TRACTOR
  1. Attach to tractor 3PL using appropriate pins.
  2. Grease both grease nipples to allow swing arm to pivot freely.
  3. Remove spike from storage under Bale Handler and fasten into spike holder with bolt and nut provided.
  4. Remove safety spring clip.
  5. Adjust top link to allow spike to be horizontal at the centre of the bale.
USING BALE HANDLER
  1. When loading bale, loading from the clockwise end is sometimes preferable. (This is the end of the bale that has loose hay pointing clockwise)
  2. After removing the string from the bale, and with the bale off the ground, from the tractor seat pull catch to allow swing arm to move freely.
  3. To feed out by unrolling hay bale, lower bale handler while moving forward and raise to stop unrolling action. This raising and lowering regulates the amount of hay being fed out in a given distance.
  4. To relatch the pivot arm after bale is completely fed out, raise the round bale handler then slowly lower round bale handler while reversing so as the swing arm skids on the u-pipe until spike is latched in pick-up position.
IMPORTANT SAFETY POINTS
  1. Do not release catch while standing behind bale handler in area bounded by spike and swing arm.
  2. When unattended always leave bale handler either fully lowered with point of spike near ground or, if raised, with swing arm unhooked so that point of spike is above head height.
  3. Use safety spring clip when necessary to prevent accidental tripping of swing arm.
  4. Be aware that round bale handler extends beyond right hand wheel on most tractors. So care is required when driving through gates etc.
  5. On tractors with double acting 3PL systems the floating mode of 3PL is preferred as excessive downward pressure puts unnecessary stress on the round bale handler.
