THE NATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
The CBF
The Community Broadcasting
Foundation (CBF) is a non-profit funding agency providing support to
the Australian community broadcasting sector through the allocation of
grants for development, programming and infrastructure.
CBF grants with specific
guidelines are available for Aboriginal, ethnic, print handicapped and
general community broadcasting station projects, as well as sector
coordination and policy development.
Most permanently licenced West Australian community broadcasting
stations have received CBF grants at one time or another.
In recent times, the CBF has also provided WACBA with funds for a training seminar and a website expansion project.
Detailed information about the CBF and its funding programs is available at www.cbf.com.au.
The CBAA
The Community Broadcasting
Association of Australia (CBAA) is a national membership-based
organisation located in Sydney. It represents the interests of
community radio and television stations, and aspirant community
broadcasting groups, throughout Australia.
The CBAA provides community
broadcasters with advice and support on a wide variety of issues
including legislative requirements, policy, tax, copyright,
sponsorship, training, volunteerism and management.
It also hosts ComRadSat, a
national community radio satellite service that distributes
member-produced news and specialist programs across the country.
Once a year, the CBAA holds a major national conference for community broadcasters.
WACBA Executive member, Andrew Brine, currently serves on the CBAA's National Committee.
