Range Rover (Mine).
Well, I'd have to say that the only commercial, high volume manufacturer of "off road vehicles" (and of course Steyr Puch / Automotive Technik etc don't fall into this category) that I really have any interest in, is Land Rover.
While I admit that they have somewhat "lost the plot of late" with the release of purely mass market generated vehicles such as the Freelander I have nothing but respect for such vehicles as the 110 and earlier style Classic Range Rovers. These vehicles were conceived in a time when their off road ability and prowess was a paramount design criteria and the fact that the Range Rover in particular was such a good "on road" performer was an additional bonus.
Additionally I love fanatics, and in all my years associated with 4WDriving I have NEVER seen such fanatical owners as Land Rover owners. They endure jibes and criticsm from other vehicle owners (and at times even agree with their "opponents") but most are loyal to the core and loyalty is something I respect.
......so the end result is that I drive my favourite off road vehicle/s (Pinzgauer and Haflinger) in extreme situations and my second favourite vehicle (91 Range Rover) as my "everyday" road car and mild 4WDriver.
