This is an OPART experiment
with a couple of graphics based on Bridget Riley's "Crest" (1964)
I got the idea to do this after doing a project for the March Theme
for the 2D forum at
Renderosity.
Bridget Riley explored the concepts of "static" 2D
kinetic
or
optical art by utilising precise mathematical
precision in the placement of lines on canvas utilising the visual
phenomenon of after-image that exists on the retina when looking at
areas of strong contrast. This effect coupled with the
móire
that comes with closely spaces lines produced an interesting optical
effect. I decided to take this further in Flash by juxtaposing another
"lines" image above the base one and allowing the viewer
to move it my dragging with the mouse. Also both layers change scale
over time as the mouse is pressed. Release (mouse) to reset the "experiment"
