Wattle
Flat is located in the magnificent Styx River State Forest approximately 60
Km east of Armadale in north-eastern NSW.
This is one of our all time favourite spots.
Access in dry weather is OK for 2wd vehicles with a caravan of modest
proportions, certainly of less mass than the towing vehicle and with
reasonable ground clearance.
Motorhomes of Toyota Coaster size seem to have no problems in dry
conditions.
4x4 vehicles (as opposed to 4 x sometimes 4) should have no problems at all providing the caravan has
reasonable ground clearance.
Wattle
Flat is one of several very pretty camping areas in this forest maintained by NSW Forestry Dept with large
mowed grassy areas, toilets and fireplaces beside the river.
Many hundreds of wallabies
roam the area so keep your dog on a leash. There is an active feral
dog baiting program in operation mainly around the perimeter of the forest.
Forestry staff work in the area and are most helpful, even suppling
prepared fire wood to all fireplaces. The
accompanying photo shows David, a Forestry Ranger from Jogola, maintaining
this fabulous area.
If you want peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings and maybe try some
fishing, this place is hard to beat.
As with all NSW Forestry camping areas, there are no camping fees.
