Sherry was
our beautiful German Shepherd.
She was born on 17th May 1982 and passed away on the 18th January 1994.
Sherry had the most lovable, placid temperament imaginable. In all her twelve
years, I never once heard her growl, never once saw any sign of aggression
whatsoever.
Contrary to the impression some uninformed people have of German Shepherds,
they are not normally aggressive unless they feel threatened. Aggressive ones are either
trained that way or have been abused.
Sherry's passing was an exceedingly traumatic time for us. We loved her
dearly and not a day goes by when we do not think about her still.
We were unable to tolerate
the empty house and three months later we brought Mishka
into our lives. Mishka wasn't a replacement for Sherry, she was in
addition to Sherry.
Now, ten years later we have just lost Mishka too, I do not think we
will be blessed with another puppy. We are both around the sixty
mark and the thought of loosing another in time is just too much to contemplate.
But the thought of not having man's very best friend around the home.....no
more walks.....no more playing ball.....no more waking up with someone at the
end of your bed.....no more drives in the country.....no more holidays in the
caravan.....no more cuddles, that also is too much to contemplate.
If you have never had a dog as a part of you life (and I don't mean just
owning a dog), then you couldn't know what I am talking about, but then if you
haven't, you wouldn't have bothered to read this.
Please give your special friend big hugs every day and cherish the time they
are with you because they are not with you forever in this lifetime and time
passes so quickly.
