Background to Our Organisation
History
The "Television & Electronic Services Association" ( T.E.S.A.) was founded in N.S.W. in 1956 to represent and protect the interests of the electronic industry, educate its members through regular meetings, lectures and demonstrations by manufacturers and others, as well as communicating via a monthly newsletter. We also have developed stationery, emblems, posters, membership cards, and have consumer problem adjudication, a Buying Group and a range of other support services.
Organization
Similar T.E.S.A. organizations with the same code of ethics and the same constitution have been formed in all States of Australia.
Membership
T.E.S.A. Membership is open to all electronic businesses of good reputation, which undertake to abide by our Code of Ethics and the constitution of T.E.S.A.. Provisional membership is available to businesses that have been formed for less than a year. Associate membership is for companies such as Manufacturers and Honorary Life Membership is given for long and valuable service to the industry.
Objectives
The aim of T.E.S.A. is to promote ethical trading, protect and improve the image of the electronic industry, help technician training with monthly newsletter and monthly technical meetings, provide accountancy and management information, adjudicate customer complaints, represent the interests of the Electronic Industry with government instrumentalities, T.A.F.E. Colleges, Manufacturers and other organisations.
Ethics
Our code of ethics, which is binding on all members, has been drawn up in conjunction with Consumer Affairs, our sister association T.E.T.I.A. and various other associations. and has been approved as a guide by the Minister for Fair Trading.
