Ardglen Bankers
bankers shoving hard

“ You are sitting in Willow Tree loop on a 42 wagon Up Gunnedah Coal. Two 81s on the front, and three 80s on the rear”

-choose #3 view, and start to notch up the train. The old Werris Creek driver starts to notch up his bank engines, quickly going to notch 8.

-leave it in notch 8 and watch and listen ( using #2 and #3 views)

-you’ll be doing nicely, upto Chillotts Ck bridge, when the 1 in 38 grades take effect.

-stagger into Ardglen at 15kph, if you want to view the tunnel, go ahead, but you have to detach the bank engines ‘on the run’, so 1st trip watch the detach.

-ensure you are in #3 view of the rear before getting near the tunnel (otherwise it will ‘lock’ into cab view)

-Hit F9 key, and the uncouple screen will come up. Scroll to the rear, noting the engines on the rear of the consist. As the bankers go over the dirt road, double click on the coupler in F9 key, and the three bankers should detach.

-almost at the same time, if not earlier, notch the train to ‘idle’, wait 10 secs, and ‘set up’ the dynamic brake. After 10 secs, choose full dyno, for the run down the hill.

-The dynamic brake probably wont control it (doing 80kph) so a 5% air brake application should suffice, leaving this on until near Murrurundi.

-You have two ‘crosses’ to worry about

...after that, plenty of passing trains en route...
