Title : Flipside 33RPM (England is a bitch)
mixedmedia (found objects) and enamel paint on vinyl
1990-1991
These works began in 1990 in London. Inspired by the job I was doing at the time, working for Roughtrade Distribution, situated initially at the back of Kings Cross then later .....before eventually going into recievership.
Working in the returns department of this company allowed free reign to faulty records particularly those from labels not distributed through Roughtrade or promotional records
At that time it was about 50% records and 50% CDs records were still big in the clubs and dance music was becoming more and more popular. Despite the clubs attatchment to viynl it was obvious that records were destined to become redundent, like I finally was.
