A traveller settles in a full train compartment and starts taking a virtually endless amount of food out of his large suitcase, savouring all of it. "One can never eat enough" he tells the puzzled travellers offering clever if bizarre arguments.

A man and his son search for his stolen bicycle which he needs to maintain his job as a bill poster. An Italian classic.

April 9 Logan's Run

USA, 1976. 117 minutes. Director: Michael Anderson

In a hermetically sealed, post-apocalyptic utopian urban environment in the 23rd Century, citizens can live a life of total hedonism - but only until the age of thirty when they must submit to compulsory euthanasia. Logan is a loyal citizen whose job is to find and destroy "runners" seeking to escape.

October 8 Antonia's Line

Netherlands, 1995. 102 minutes. Director: Marleen Gorris

This film traces fifty years in the life of Antonia, a strong willed matriarch who founds a dynasty after returning to her village in the Dutch countryside shortly after World War 2. The narrator, Antonia's great-granddaughter emphasises the cyclical nature of life in a small rural community.
Winner of the "Most Popular Film" award at the 1995 Toronto Film Festival.

May 14 Tampopo

Japan, 1986. 114 minutes. Director: Juzo Itami

A mouth watering comedy of food and love. A truck driver and expert noodle cook given to wearing a cowboy hat and boots encounters Tampopo the owner of a run down noodle bar.
Winner Sydney Film Critics Circle "Best Film" in 1987.

November 12 The Road Home

After the death of his father, Luo returns home to his village to help his mother with funeral arrangements. His mother wishes for a traditional and costly ceremony, something that has not been performed in the village for hundreds of years.

Set in the inner Melbourne suburb of Brunswick this black comedy is about a cook at a seedy nightclub who becomes caught up in the death of a Turkish kitchenhand.
July 16 All About My Mother

Spain, 1999. 101 minutes. Director: Pedro Almodóvar

A story about a woman's journey to locate her former lover, the father of her only child, a son. She is drawn into a world full of actresses, drama queens and pregnant nuns. Campy, quirky and Fellini-like at times.
