A collection of all eight Ghosts of the Shadow Market stories, along with two brand new ones, about characters from Cassandra Clare's internationally bestselling Shadowhunters series.

Ghosts of the Shadow Market follows James ‘Jem’ Carstairs through 1899-2013. Jem starts out his journey as a Silent Brother called Brother Zachariah. He has trouble dealing with the fact that his life has changed from being a Shadowhunter (a race of beings who are humans with angel blood) with a fiancé to a Silent Brother who must sever all ties with his mortal life.

The genre of this young adult book is fantasy. There are also romance themes. I enjoyed this book because it gave a wide array of information about what the Shadowhunters’ lives were like and delves thoroughly into some of what was going on in the background. I also enjoyed this story because of the different and diverse characters throughout the book. I think that this book should be read by those aged 12+ because there is some romance and death involved. Overall this was a good read and I’d recommend this to anyone that wants to learn more about the Shadowhunters and Jem Carstairs.
