When I was given this book to review, I found the length intimidating, but I wanted to get into reading fantasy, so I took up the challenge. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The story starts with a flashback which drew me in but from there it spiralled. As I continued the book, my confusion grew. The charactersí families were so complicated I didnít know who was related to whom. At some points, I struggled to follow the plot. There were some good parts, including the fighting scenes but most of the time, it felt like getting whiplash from how quickly the chain of events changed. For those young adult readers who want to read a fantasy novel filled with love, fighting and twists this oneís for you (as well as for those who are fans of the many other novels set in the world of the Shadowhunters).
