Take Three Girls
Cath Crowley, Simmone Howell, Fiona Wood
Take Three Girls is a beautiful collaborative work by three Australian authors (Cath Crowley, Fiona Wood and Simmone Howell). Take Three Girls is set in a private high school where not everyone is as nice as they should be. There's an anonymous website that's posting really mean things about some of the girls, and it isn't helping the self-esteem of many. The school's solution? To start a wellness class. Three girls are brought together by randomised wellness groups, and find they have a lot more in common than what they thought.
I would recommend this book to teenage girls aged 13 to 15. It deals with some mature themes such as sex, bullying, and abuse, but is mostly pretty mild. There are funny bits, sad bits, and bits that will make you angry, and that's what makes it such a good book. It will boost any girl's confidence and give them the strength to take down the patriarchy in even the smallest of ways. The writing style is very easy to read and covers issues that every teen of the modern world will have to handle. It was a great read.
Grace, age 15
