I previously reviewed the first of the Hilary Duff books, Elixir. Both Elixir and Devoted are of the same genre. I would describe them as thrillers with a lot of romance in them. I think that Devoted would appeal more to girls than to boys and that teenagers would enjoy this novel because they could relate to the characters.
Clea Raymond is the main character and she finds her soul mate whose name is Sage. They discover that they have had relationships in past lives and that in all of these lives their love ended horribly. Sage disappears and Clea puts her own life and the life of her friend, Ben at risk in order to find him again and make it that this time their love has a happy ending.
The language in this novel was easy to read for a teenager like me but it might be hard for younger people to understand because there are some complicated words and ideas. I enjoyed reading about the characters and read the novel quite fast once I got started. I give this book 8 out of ten stars.
