Perfect On Paper
Hodder Children's Books
Perfect on Paper is a young adult rom-com novel written by Sophie Gonzales and published in 2021. It follows bisexual high schooler Darcy Phillips, who with a 95% success rate runs her schoolís infamous Locker 89, where students go to ask for relationship advice, however, when the Australian new kid Brougham finds out her secret, she is forced into helping him get his ex-girlfriend back in exchange for him not telling anyone about her identity. Darcy fears that if her best friend (and long-time crush) Brooke finds out, sheíll never speak to her again.
I think this book is appropriate for readers aged 13+, as it is pretty easy to read but there are frequent adult references in the letters to Locker 89. It has really good LGBTQ representation and discusses some issues (only briefly though), and bullying is present but not for long in the story.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to others as itís such a good read, even if youíre not such a fan of this genre. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Itís very much a page turner and reads really well! I was left very satisfied with how the story came together and found the characters to be interesting and likeable.
