FLY: Financially Literate Youth
Jai Hobbs and Marlies Hobbs
FLY: Financially Literate Youth by Jai Hobbs and Marlies Hobbs is a handbook on finance and how to start adulthood with good habits. It teaches you how you can receive a loan and what a credit report is. It goes into detailed explanations about everything finance, it is relatively easy to understand.
The book is aimed at year 10-12, but the book had some facts that even adults won’t know. The book covers subjects like property, investing in shares, and crypto currencies like bitcoin. It lists reasons whether you should rent instead of buying a house and why bankruptcy should be avoided at all costs. The diagrams in the book are simple if the terms seem a little hard to understand.
I liked how in the book there were scenarios saying what could happen, and how this situation could be improved, and it gave me better knowledge on different topics. For example, buying collectibles and saving for an iPhone.
Overall, I would rate this book a 9.5 out of 10 because there were a lot of facts in the book that would help everyone, but it was a bit wordy at times.
