Curse of the Werewolf Boy by Chris Priestly is a cleverly written and extremely humorous book about a boarding school for boys by the name of Maudlin Towers. The main characters (Mildew and Sponge) go to the school, Maudlin Towers and are bad at PE, terrible at spelling and disastrous at maths. They constantly find themselves in many sticky situations throughout the whole book were the comedy of the book really comes out to shine. The main plot in this book is that the prestigious school spoon has been stolen and until the spoon is returned the principal is going to keep everybody in for the summer holidays, and nobody wants that! So, Mildew and Sponge are going to try and save everyone by finding the school spoon.

When I first picked up the book I thought no because the title and front cover put me off, but I decided to read it anyway and that was one of the best decisions I have made this year! This book is full of twists and turns that had me reading for hours on end and was never disappointed! I think that this book would be great for 10-12 years because it has some complex story arcs. I think that this book is humorous and slightly historical, and a great light read during your spare time!

Julia, age 11
