A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book The Fifth: The Austere Academy
fp November 2000
This is the fifth book in A Series Of Unfortunate Events and it is just as sad and miserable as the others are. If you’re looking for a book about a couple of happy children who are enjoying themselves at boarding school, then look elsewhere. This book is another miserable and unhappy chapter in the Baudelaire’s unlucky lives.
In this book, entitled The Austere Academy, the Baudelaire orphans are sent to live at boarding school whose motto is Memento Mori (Remember you will die!). The Baudelaire orphans meet a very terrible person while staying at the school and they also meet the triplets Duncan and Isadora. The Baudelaire’s become good friends with the triplets and everything seems to be going fine until the gym teacher goes missing. A new teacher (Count Olaf in disguise) arrives and gets the Baudelaire orphans to do laps every night. He calls this tedious task S.O.R.E. – it’s all part of Olaf’s evil plan…
It was a great read!
