Renewal of Vows

This type of service may also be called a' reaffirmation' of vows but in general is called a 'renewal of vows'

It is extremely popular among the 40-50 year age group. This group generally feel the need to 'redo' their wedding vows.
It appears from my experience, the reason to relive the "wedding" they had many years ago is, they had no control over the planning of this big day, most of it, as was normal for that time, was planned by their parents. For that reason, they now want to take control over all aspects of this special event.
Some have done their 'renewal' after five years of marriage, while others have waited until they have reached one of the other "milestones" listed below.

Jacquie and Mark were one of my last couples to be married on the Night of the Millennium December 31, 1999. So three years later 2002, they surprised everyone at the New Years Eve Barbeque by having a Renewal of their vows in front of family and close friends, complete with their now three year old twins.

A renewal of vows is an excellent way of saying to the world, that the couple wants to stay together. It is reliving the marriage journey, through life to the present day.
