Spinifex Performance Curve
An example of a fully specified oil
separator performance curve is shown on the right. Click on the image to
see a larger picture. Fluid properties, method of operation and separator
design conditions are fully specified in the left hand side of the data
sheet.
The blue dotted line shows the single pass
oil separation performance. The curve shows that with the conditions
specified about 90% of 20 micron sized oil droplets will be removed and
approximately 100% of 30 micron oil droplets will be separated. Even
a good percentage of the very difficult to treat 10 micron oil droplets
can be removed.
Obviously most oily water mixtures are not
made up of a single oil droplet size but a variety or 'distribution' of
sizes. For most oily water mixtures research has shown that the
distribution is 'log/normal'. The graph in the bottom right corner shows a
typical feed distribution (red) and the distribution on the treated water
outlet.
How clean does the Spinifex performance
curve make the oily water? Visit our Water Quality page to
see.
