Country of Origin: Australia
Brave and alert, Australian Terriers make good guard dogs and excellent companions for young and old alike. The Aussie is a sensible breed that is equally at home on a farm or in a suburban backyard.
A number of terrier breeds owned by early Australian settlers were involved in the development of this small, hardy dog that was keen to hunt, able to kill vermin such as snakes, rats, and mice as well as being a great companion and an alert guard dog. Aussies make good house dogs. The Australian Terrier is today a much loved family dog in many countries of the world.
