Matermaria Australian Terriers date from 1981 when the Principal of Mater Maria College Warriewood introduced Australian Terriers into the school community. Mater Maria College was situated on eight and a half hectares overlooking the Warriewood Valley. There was plenty of room for animal care. Students handled the pups at lunch time and they became a talking point between the Principal and the students. The first litter bred was from a Mulga and Tahee mating. After 10 years at Warriewood Sr Therese Marie Fleming the Principal, moved to WA taking the Aussies with her to New Norcia College then later to Collie. In 1996 Matermaria came back to the East coast and is currently situated in North Queensland where Sr Therese works on the Rural Mission.
Over the years Matermaria bred dogs have been quite successful. Mentored by Tahee kennels Matermaria was able to breed the best to the best so a good line has evolved.
