The Melbourne Crusaders Scooter Club, Lambretta scooters, the Melbourne Soul Club, Motown, Soul & Northern Soul from the 60's and 70's. The scooters, the records, the labels, the performers, the clubs; the Twisted Wheel, the Pendulum, the Torch, Blackpool Mecca, Wigan Casino, VaVa's, the Catacombs etc., is what this site is all about. It's called the "Night Shift Down Under", due to the nocturnal nature of the Soul scene and "down under" as I emigrated to Australia from Manchester UK in 1975. Understandably time doesn't stand still and since then "Northern Soul" has evolved over more than 30 years and so it's not quite the same as the late 1960s and early 70s, there are however still some great Northern Soul nights happening all around the World and if you are lucky enough to find one, it's the good old days all over again. Northern Soul is therefore still alive and well and so has emerged as one of the most resilient music genres ever known. This website is an unashamed tribute to the early years of Soul music and Lambretta Scooters in the late 60's and early 70's, an era too good to be forgotten. As they say, if you need to ask, you don't need to know. Hope you may find a reminder or two of the halcyon days somewhere within the pages of this site, keep on keepin on..........
