      When visiting Ontario, Canada I stay with good friends who live in an area that is heavily populated with Mennonites. The Mennonites of this rural setting live simply, work hard and dress in a similar manner that can appear old fashioned to the modern world. It is common to see these sturdy people using horse and buggy and other non-mechanical methods of transportation. One day I saw these two women walking with a cart. I chose the no frills medium of pencil and used a lot of negative space to help convey the simple, hard working, uncomplicated aspects of their life and beliefs.
