Nick’s research has contributed to a range of public health and clinical topics, including: socio-cultural determinants of heart disease; asthma self-care; social and behavioural dimensions of pharmaceutical use; psychometric scale development for health related attitudes, beliefs and behaviours; nutrition practices of pregnant women; disease prevention among the elderly; and, prevention of the spread of infectious disease.

Over the past three years Nick has worked in a transdisciplinary team examining the relationship between human health and ecosystem distress, focusing on the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales and the experience of communities exposed to environmental degradation through open-cut mining and power generation industries.
