A small hospital operated in the town up till September 2007 to look after the needs of the population, however, in the 2007 state Labor budget, the health minister - Lara Giddings, - decided to downgrade it to a local community health centre. During the federal election run-up, the federal Liberal government placed one million dollars into a trust account to be held by the West Coast council, - supposedly to maintain the hospital services in Rosebery. In September 2007 the hospital stopped admitting patients, and as of now, - March 2008, despite the many protests of the local population, the hospital is still not assured of being restored and maintained. | |||||||||||||||||||
