Rosebery, Tasmania, Australia
|
Rosebery is a small town
located in the north west of Tasmania - the island state of
Australia located off the south coast of the mainland. The major
employers in the area are the Zinifex (formerly Pasminco) zinc mine.
Tel: - (03) 6473 2222 and the recently re-opened Bluestone tin mine
(formerly Renison Bell) Tel:- (03) 6473 2732. The Zinifex mine hosts
a very interesting Heritage Centre showing mining history of the
region.
The town is the perfect base for excursions to the
stunningly beautiful natural wonders of the north west, such as
Cradle Mountain, the Montezuma waterfall, the Franklin River and the
magnificent rainforests of the Hellyer Gorge. Fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, rock
climbing, or just plain walking - it's all available, and for
photographers, it is a case of "can't take a bad picture if you want
to". Budding geologists, too will find the area of
great interest.
