Rosebery cemetery picture

Grave Plots, - as seen from the entrance, are layed out starting with number one at the furthest right hand side to number twenty five, and working upwards closer to the entrance. The numbers increase right to left on the first and every odd row, and left to right on the even numbered rows.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A close neighbour of Rosebery is the village of Tullah 16km north. There is a disused cemetery there.

Unfortunately, it is very overgrown, difficult to locate, and only two markers are visible:-

Gordon husband of Alice EUSTACE, accidentally drowned 10th Sep 1930,

Ella eldest daughter of T.H.& C.L. BYNON, 25th Oct 1920, aged 6yrs and 3months.

David Bennion - an erstwhile resident of Rosebery, has supplied the following information about an old grave on a hill overlooking the ocean towards Trial Harbour and Strahan , - "He was a young man who was accidentally killed at an old tin mine up there, - his grave looks out over the sea. The story goes he was killed whilst using a warming pan, which was used,- in those days,- to warm gelignite prior to use".

Joseph Brown grave   The inscription reads:

        Erected by his fellow workmen

        In memory of

Joseph Brown

       Who was accidentally killed

 at the Montague Tin Mine

22nd September 1881
