Wade Spencer began his career with WOODVILLE in the Summer 1998 season with the Under 10 Timberwolves. Wade made his debut in Round 1 of Summer 1998, not scoring in a 7-24 loss. Wade's first points of his career came in Round 3, where he scored 2 points in a 13-10 win. During his first season, Wade scored 35 points in 18 games, at an average of 1.9ppg with a game high of 6pts coming in Round 9 (34-2 win), Round 11 (20-2 win) and Round 13 (29-4 win). In 2003, Wade became only the 2nd player in club history to score 1500 career points with WOODVILLE. Saturday May 1st 2004 has become a historic day in the history of the WOODVILLE Basketball Club. On this day, Wade Spencer had his own "May Day" by firstly set the new single game scoring record breaking Joey Mausar's 41pt game in November 2002 by scoring 54pts in a 92-11 win over Cambridge Crushers. Wade had an astonishing 40pts to half time and in perfect health, added 14 more to finish on 54. In the process of this achievement Wade Spencer broke the All Time Club Scoring Record, passing Matthew O'Driscoll's previous club record of 2030. Wade ended this game on 2031 and in 1st position, also becoming the 2nd player in club history to pass 2000 career points.

Thursday October 27th 2005 - Wade rattles off 26pts for the Under 18/20 Wolverines to become the 1st and only player to reach the astronomical 3000 point milestone. It capped off a remarkable 7 game streak that Wade had been on, scoring 21, 27, 24, 25, 29, 15 and 26, a total of 167 points in 7 games at an average of 23.9ppg. This streak also pushed Wade's career average up over 10ppg for the first time in his career.

On Saturday November 22nd 2003, Wade Spencer became the 10th player to play 200 career games with WOODVILLE. Wade achieved this milestone on the same day as his twin brother, Bryce also played his 200th career game. Wade's 316 career games also places him 4th for most career games by a WOODVILLE player, with Wade playing his 250th career game on September 18th 2004.

On Tuesday April 4th 2006, Wade played his 300th career game, becoming the 4th player in Woodville history to reach this momentous milestone. The game was against Iramoo Lakers in Under 18/20 Division 1 and featured not only Wade and the Wolverines, but ex-Woodville and hall of fame players Chris Guertler, Raymond Tilley and Nick Wark. Wade shot 5 3pt-ers in the match to end with a score of 21pts, albeit the Wolverines ending with a brave 15pt loss to the competition's pace-setters (43-58).

Wade's highest points total in a season has come in the Autumn 2004 season, playing with the Wolverines in Under 16 Division 1, Wade scored a club single season record 418 points from 21 games at an average of 19.9ppg. Over his career, Wade has registered a club record 39 games of 20+ points, his career high being 54pts. In July 2003, Wade scored 35pts in the last round of the Autumn 2003 season. Wade backed this up the following week in the second semi final by scoring 30 points, one of only two occurrences of back to back 30pt games in club history. That occurrence began a remarkable 4 game stretch for Wade where he scored 105 points, an average of 26.3 over 4 games, including 2 finals. Wade's progression in these 4 games was:- Round 14 - 35pts, 2nd Semi Final, 30pts, Grand Final 20pts, Round 1 Spring 2003 20pts.

On Saturday June 14th 2003, Wade scored 17pts in an 53-20 win for the U16 Wolverines. By scoring 17pts, on this day Wade passed 1500 career points for WOODVILLE. Throughout his career, Wade has scored 10 or more points in a game on 169 occasions, which is also a club record.
In 27 finals games Wade has scored 322 points, Wade's 322 points being the most points ever scored by a Woodville player in finals. Wade has also scored 93 points in his 6 Grand Final appearances, which is another club record, Most Points Scored By A Woodville Player In Grand Finals.

Over the weekend of July 3rd - July 4th 2004, Wade Spencer was a member of the Woodville Wolverines Under 16 Club B Grade Championship winning team at the 2004 Melbourne Tigers Tournament. This tournament victory was the first tournament success for a Woodville team. Wade finished the tournament second in the Team MVP for the weekend, and scored an amazing 29 points in the Grand Final to take his tally for the tournament to 84 points in 4 games, an average of 21ppg. Wade had two twenty point games at this tournament, 25 against Morwell Magic, and 29 in the final against Waverley Green.

Wade was a member of the 2nd placed Woodville U16 Wolverines who participated at the 2004 Great Western Tournament held at Altona and Keilor Basketball stadiums. Wade, the team's MVP at this tournament scored 72 points in the teams 4 games.

Wade suffered a serious and rare ankle tendon injury during a game in November 2004. This injury, requiring surgery, put Wade out of action for 4 months, with Wade resuming his hoops career in late February 2005. Prior to this injury, Wade had created a new scoring record for one calendar year by scoring 876 points throughout 2004. The previous record was held by Raymond Tilley who scored 810 points the year before, 2003.

Over Wade's career, which is still currently active with the Under 18/20 Wolverines, a career now spanning 8 years, Wade has played for 4 WOODVILLE teams. He has played for the TIMBERWOLVES, WARRIORS, WOLVERINES and RAGE, ranging in age groups from under 10's through to under 18/20's. Wade has played in a club record equalling six grand finals, those coming in Summer 1998, Spring 2000, Autumn 2002, Spring 2002, Autumn 2003 and Spring 2005. Wade has played in a club record 5 Premierships, those coming with a 15-7 win in Summer 1998 (Wade scoring 5pts). a 37-32 win in Spring 2000 (Wade scoring 13pts), a 34-24 win in Autumn 2002 (Wade scoring a team leading 16 points), a 47-32 win in Autumn 2003 (Wade scoring 20 points) and in Spring 2005 with a 57-36 victory with Wade almost single handedly ensuring the Wolverines Premiership with an astonishing offensive display. Wade rattled off a 37pt Grand Final effort, Wade's personal 2nd highest career score, The 2nd highest individual finals score in club history (behind Joey Mausar's 41pts - 2002). The highest individual Grand Final score in club history, and the 5th highest any game individual score in club history.

In the Autumn 2003 Grand Final, Wade was a participant in the first ever ALL-WOODVILLE Grand Final, where the Woodville Wolverines played off against the Woodville Warriors for the Autumn 2003 Under 16 Division 2 Premiership. Now in his 19th season, Wade has scored more than 100 points in a season on 16 occasions, recording season scores of over 150 points on 8 occasions. Wade has scored his 100+ points seasons over the last 16 consecutive seasons.
Although history still has a part to be written and the future still has to unfold, but it is quite conceivable that Wade could be WOODVILLE's greatest ever player.....
