Solaris is a project I first started back in 2003 but never got around to completing. It was planned to be a loose adaption of the game of the same name for the Atari 2600, programmed by Douglas Neubauer. You can see the original at Wikipedia.

With the coding & planning I'm currently doing, I'm looking to make it match more closely to the original than I originally intended, but there will still be some slight differences here or there.

The game is more or less a shoot-em-up where you journey across the galaxy to find the planet Solaris. Think of it sort of as a Phoenix-like game with an "overworld".

The coding is still in the fairly early stages, I've started work on the battle routines and that's the majority of it, although the initial structure for some other parts is in place as well.
