Brian's story
November, 1999

Brian is from Rochester, New York, USA, and like many cancer patients, courageously battles the depression which can accompany life-threatening disease.

Dear Nola,

I am glad to hear of your response to my story that I had sent over the email to the Australian Self-help Site.  I would love for you to post my story and address over the site so that people could possibly contact me with questions and/or responses.  I know that there are many out there with same or similar circumstances that I would love to hear from and respond back to. Again thank-you and I will let you know if there is anything more that occurs that I could send to you to update my story over the website.

Sincerely,
Brian

I am a 25 year-old who is a survivor from both brain tumors and the effects of radiation therapy. Through my many sugical procedures, the tumors that I have had removed have been not all completely removed. Small portions of tumor remain inside my brain because doctors are unable to get to them. So my doctors watch closely to see if my tumors grow to a certain size before being dealt with or removed. Sometimes because of all that I have been through I become depressed. But I always have my friends to make me happy. Most make jokes that if I were to shave my head that I would look like a road map because of all of the scars that remain from all of the surgeries and other things that have happened to me that have left permanent scars behind.
