Lina's story
29th May, 2002.
Lina is extremely positive about her life and her experiences of the last three years since diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
I am a 43 year old ovarian cancer survivor who 3 years ago was given one week to live...I would not trade the last 3 years for anything!

I am a 43 year old ovarian cancer survivor who 3 years ago was given one week to live.
I was misdiagnosed so many times before finally being told nothing could be done.
I found a surgeon who operated a few days later and after extensive surgery I had chemotherapy and went into remission after only a couple of treatments. Twelve months later it recurred and I was told this time it was in my heart and they could not operate and was advised to start chemo immediately. I got a second opinion and it was not in my heart at all.
My new doctor put me on Tamoxifen tablets and I was fine for another 18 months. Then I had chemo for 6 months which went really well after my ca125 went up to 517. The cancer was in my stomach NOT my heart and now 2 months after my last chemo I feel great.
Always get a second - even a third - opinion because if I didn't I would not be here today. I know I am not curable but at least I am monitored regularly but not too often because that is stressful and I look better than a lot of people who have never been sick. I have great kids and a great husband and friends and I would not trade the last 3 years for anything!
Good Luck!
Be positive!
