Holy Martyr Theodotos of Ancyra

Commemorated June 7

St Theodotos contested in Ancyra during the reign of Diocletian (284-305 AD), when Theoteknos was Proconsul. After the martyrdom of the virgin Tecusa of Ancyra and her seven companions (the virgins Alexandria, Claudia, Phaeina, Euphrasia, Matrona, Julia, and Theodota; they are celebrated on May 18), St Theodotos recovered their holy relics and buried them. For this, he was seized by Theoteknos, tormented, and beheaded.

Your Martyr, O Lord, in his courageous contest for You received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from You, our immortal God. For since he possessed Your strength, he cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' powerless presumption. O Christ God, by his prayers, save our souls, since You are merciful.
