Deaths of Sisters of St. Joseph

Sister M. Genevieve

Sister M. Genevieve Sister M. Genevieve Brace died very suddenly on June 27th, after a full day's teaching. But though her death was sudden, it was by no means unprovided. Sister had offered the holy Sacrifice with the Community on the morning of her death and had received her Lord in Holy Communion. When she collapsed at the end of the day the priest was at her side within a very few minutes to administer the Sacrament of Extreme Unction. Her death was an answer to her oft-repeated wish that she would "die in harness."

Before entering religion sister Genevieve lived in Norwood, South Australia, where she received her education from Sisters of St. Joseph at St. Mary's School, Beulah Road. All her religious life of fifty two years was passed in South Australia, where she taught in many suburban and country schools. Sister Genevieve was also a fine musician, being gifted with an unusually rich contralto voice. Wherever she went her jovial disposition, her warm-heartedness and her quick sympathy won her many friends. She was loved for her generosity. Her sisters in Religion admired her readiness to lend a helping hand whenever she saw the need or the opportunity. She is sadly missed from Kensington Convent where she resided for the past two years. May her dear soul rest in peace.
