Elizabeth (nee Brook) Staunton


Jonathan and Harriet Brook departed the Port of London 19th July 1852 on the ship "Steadfast" and arrived Port Adelaide, South Australia 15th Nov. 1852. Read the full passenger List for the Steadfast online at the The Ship List.

Jonathon was born Fulstone, Yorkshire, England, 29th Sept. 1817.

He had been a coal miner for 13 years.

On the voyage with Jonathan were his wife Harriet, aged 28 years, his son William, aged six years and his daughter Emma, aged three years.

Jonathan first resided at Kapunda S.A. from where he visited the Victorian Goldfields then returned to Kapunda. He moved to Glen Osmond S.A. in 1854 where he remained to his death in 1899.

In the Glen Osmond area Jonathan opened several quarries.

Jonathan died April 16 1899 and was Buried at St. Saviours C of E Glen Osmond Grave no. 25 Block G

Harriet died January 27 1909 Buried St. Saviours C of E Glen Osmond.
