What is a Hartley TS16?
The Hartley TS16 is the most popular trailer sailer in Australia. It is a clean lined, unsinkable conventional trailer yacht with performance and versatility proven over more than 30 years. It is light, easy to rig, launch and retrieve and can be towed comfortably by a four cylinder car. For more see Hartley TS16 Details.
Pleasure Boating
The Hartley TS16 is a versatile pleasure boat for sailing, motoring and camping. It has overnight accommodation for two in the cabin and, with a boom tent, a further two in the cockpit. With a 4-10 hp outboard motor it becomes a very stable launch for fishing or just for cruising. For details see NSW Association Cruising Programme and Victorian Programme.
Racing
Hartley TS16s are regularly raced as one class racing yachts throughout Australia and are also raced in mixed fleets. They prove very competitive in mixed company and are often a match for yachts up to 22 feet in length. For more information about racing and a list of sailing clubs in NSW where Hartley TS16s race see Racing in NSW. For similar information in other States see Hartley TS16 Sailing in Other States and for New Zealand see Hartley TS16 Sailing in New Zealand
If you are about to begin racing, for a good and relatively straightforward introduction to the subject see Racing Basics.

Crewing on a Hartley TS16
One of the best ways to learn about Hartley TS16s is to sail in one as crew. Regular racing skippers are from time to time looking for people to cover the absence of regular crew through work commitments, illness etc. To check on currently available crewing positions see TS16 Crewing.
If you would like your name listed as available for casual crewing send an Email with your name, contact details and the area in which you are available to Bob Young at younger@iprimus.com.au.
