Why do you provide this service?

How does the service work?
We provide recommendations of books in specialised subject areas. We then direct you to  Amazon.com to make your purchase. It is through purchasing books via this direct link that allows us to fund and continue this site. Please support us by doing this.

Why should I use your service rather than just going to Amazon?
We have the expertise to provide information on the techniques themselves, and recommend books on the subject. Amazon does not provide you with this background information.

When I go to Amazon, the book I want isn't in stock.
Although we provide a recommendation service, we cannot guarantee that Amazon will have it in stock. If you have no luck and don't want to wait, try their used books section.

Who is behind it all?
Yvette Stanton, the author of Elegant Hardanger Embroidery and Mountmellick Embroidery: Inspired by Nature is the owner of the site. Yvette has a particular interest in historic forms of needlework, and sees the preservation of the skills of historic needlework techniques as being an incredibly important part of our cultural history.

Why do you provide this service?
Yvette is passionate about embroidery. By providing information about historic forms of needlework, and a recommendation service for books on those subjects, she hopes to share that passion with others.
